Take the Chuo Highway Bus from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Fujisan Station. Please note that bus tickets can sell out quickly, particularly in the mornings and over the weekends. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase your ticket ahead of time, either online or at the bus station ticket office. We recommend securing your ticket at least a day in advance.
You can board either a limited express train or the JR Chuo Rapid from Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station, alighting at Otsuki Station. From there, you will need to take the Fujikyu Line to Kawaguchiko and finally alight at Gekkouji Station.
Please be aware that the Fujikyu Railway is a local train line and separate payment for tickets is necessary as it does not accept the Japan Rail Pass or the JR East Pass. However, the JR Tokyo Wide Pass is accepted.
For those using the limited express train, please note that this is a reserved-seat-only train. Even if you hold a Japan Rail Pass, a seat reservation is still necessary. You can make this reservation at the ticket counter or kiosk once you reach the station.
Upon reaching Otsuki Station, kindly follow the signs directing you to the Fujikyu Line. Please bear in mind that the Fujikyu Line is a local line, and the Japan Rail (JR) Pass is not accepted here. Therefore, you will need to purchase a separate ticket for this part of the journey. Board the train heading towards Kawaguchiko and disembark at Gekkouji Station.
Once you arrive at Gekkouji Station, exit the station and walk straight down the street for approximately 5 minutes. Our hostel is conveniently located on the left side of the street, on the 2nd floor of the building.
Take the Chuo Expressway and exit at the Otsuki Interchange. Follow signs for the Kawaguchiko Interchange. (It’s located on Rt. 139 near Fujikyu Highland Amusement Park.) After the toll booth, turn left onto Rt. 139 and turn left at McDonald’s. Mt. Fuji Hostel Michael’s is about a 5-minute drive from McDonald’s. (Refer to the map below for exact location.)
